Principles of Operation
The ESP Communications System is powered by a standard nine-volt alkaline battery (not included). Continuous service life of the battery is approximately 14 to 18 hours. A super-bright LED indicates that the unit is activated.

The battery is removed and installed by loosening or tightening two thumbscrews, which secure the battery cover. If the battery is installed incorrectly, the LED will not light when the unit is turned on.

The ESP System's water-resistant housing permits washing of the respirator facepiece as instructed in the respirator manual without removing the communications device.

Depending on user preference, the ESP System can be purchased as a conversion kit or already installed in the Ultravue Facepiece.

Approvals & Standards
The ESP Communications System is designed for compliance with NIOSH and NFPA-1981, 1997 edition. It's rated as intrinsically safe for use in Class I, II, and III, Division 1, Groups A, B, C, D, E, F, and G hazardous locations.
